Online Dating: Establishing Your First And Safe Date.

Filed under: Flirting, General, Safety, Tips For Men, Tips For Women, dating tips — Simeon @ 9:01 am

You have gone through the personal ads and have filtered out potential dates according to compatibility and other essential factors. Through e-mail and telephone conversations, you have already taken some time in getting to know better that someone special you met through your online dating service. You feel now truly attracted to that person and you have decided to have a first face-to-face meeting.

Here are a few tips for your first date:
Make sure your first date is as low pressure as possible.

Keep it short and casual. You should not attempt to meet for a fancy dinner for the first time you meet.

Arrange to meet in a public space, somewhere that is active and full of people like a shopping center, a busy coffee bar…

A word of caution for women. Remember: your safety is paramount. Even though you have been exchanging messages and talking on the phone, that person is still a stranger and you only know from him what he told you. So be careful and avoid falling in a trap. Things can still get awkward and you have to keep that in mind.

Enjoy your dating experience.

Online Dating: Safety For Women

Filed under: Safety, dating tips — Simeon @ 10:04 am

Internet dating can be a fun and certainly a rewarding experience for women of all ages. Maintaining your security while doing it is simply a combination of using common sense and practicing good judgment. Internet security rules are the same as real world security rules. You would not give your details to a strangerthat you met in a bar or on the street so you should never do that Internet either.
Play it safe.
Get to know this personwho could turn out to be Prince Charming before you give out any detail that could make it possible for him or others to trace you.
Do not tell a stranger exactly where you work. Say that you are a legal secretary (if that’s what you are) for a small law firm. Not that you work for xyz firm. It is safe to tell him what city you live in but you should wait to be any more specific than that until you have been chatting and exchanging e-mails for some time. Use only the tools allowed by the dating service you belong to. Most bid chat and private mail on their site. Do not give out your ip mail address. When you must give out an mail address make it a free one such as Hotmail or Yahoo. Your ip address is trackable for anyone who would like to go to the trouble.
When the time occurs for you to have your first face-to-face, make that first appointment in a public place and during day light hours. Take a friend with you or arrange for one to call you on your mobile phone soon after the arranged appointment.
Remember: you ARE in charge so do not let anyone coerce you into divulging more personal detail than you are at ease with divulging.

Online Dating: Keep Yourself Safe!

Filed under: Safety, dating tips — Simeon @ 4:49 pm

While investing your time and energy in finding your dream match through online dating, it is important to remember that safety is paramount. Have fun but don’t neglect safety and common sense.

First of all, remember always to protect your computer with good antivirus and firewall. You know it already, but it is worth repeating here:  before you head out into the Internet realm, take care of your equipment and your network.  You need to have a firewall and anti-virus protection for your email and for when you search websites and interact online.  If you don’t want to spend money on expensive packages, you can still use the good free alternatives such as ZoneAlarm (firewall from  www.zonelabs.com) and AVG (Anti-Virus from www.grisoft.com).

Another important element to remember: Do your due diligence.
Prepare yourself by making some research about some dating sites. Seek and choose an appropriate  online dating service.  Word of mouth still plays an important role in the spreading of information. You might know friends, neighbors, co-workers and others who have tried online dating and who can tell you of their own experience. Visit the forums of some dating sites and when you sign up to an online dating site, take the precautions we have already talked about regarding how to protect yourself and avoid releasing much of your personal information.

Enjoy your online dating experience.

Being Successful with Online Dating: Your Safety Is Paramount

Filed under: General, Safety, dating tips — Simeon @ 4:15 am

We have already talked about the safety while using internet services.Today’s online dating tip is again about avoiding any moves which would compromise your safety.
While engaging in online dating activities, make sure you observe the usual safety precautions. Do not give out personal information about yourself to strangers who meet you on the Internet. Some people get a false sense of security when they chat with people day in and day out on the Internet. Emailing someone for years doesn’t mean that you really know each other. Your correspondent is still a stranger until you get to know them in person.
This point about safety is very important for all those who want to make their online dating experience positive and rewarding. If at the end you decide to meet, make sure you meet them out instead of having them come to your house to pick you up. Meet them in a public place, like a restaurant or coffee shop. And if something feels wrong, back off.
Remember: Staying safe is one of the keys to enjoying your online dating experience.
